5 Cool Sign Installations in Windsor, Ontario

York Town Shopping Center

#1. Welcome to Yorktown Square Shopping Centre Sign

Where: Yorktown Square Shopping Centre, 1341 Grand Marais Rd W

First installed in 1954, for years this Vegas-like neon sign was sitting dormant in a South Windsor stripmall. But thanks to the efforts of Michael Wilkki, a design student at Wayne State University who brought the sign’s attention to the city’s planning department, and Tom Dobrich, the owner of the plaza, CLSS was commissioned in 2011 to restore this hidden treasure. Written in pink, orange and bright green lights, the words “Welcome to Yorktown Square Shopping Centre” can now be seen shining every night after sunset.

Constructing Our Future

#2. St.Clair College Constructing Our Future.

Where: Windsor Campus, 2000 Talbot Road West

Located on the north side of the Ford Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing, St.Clair’s Centre for Construction Innovation & Production is 25,000 sq. ft. of classrooms and shop space—home to the city’s Architectural, Civil, and Construction Technology students. With this Centre being where many go to become highly skilled trades workers, what better way than to welcome those studying construction than a sign that features blueprints, wood beams, bricks and sheet metal?

St.Clair College Employment Center

#3. St. Clair College Employment Centre

Where: Roundhouse Centre, 3015 Howard Ave #2

Whether you’re searching for a job or looking to hire, the St. Clair College Employment Centre is here for job seekers and employers alike. Connecting job seekers with employment and training opportunities, while assisting employers with hiring and training (they even provide funding to offset the costs of new hires or for training your existing employees! Seriously check them out!), this unique channel letter sign is a testament to the centre’s mission to match applicants with job opportunities. Hence, the connecting puzzle pieces.

Sweetopia

#4. Sweetopia Delights

Where: 3090 Dougall Ave

Ah 3D signs. Perfect for both indoor and outdoor advertising, hard to miss, and shading and shadows so natural that they can be seen far off in the distance. For a company that specializes in gourmet chocolate, cupcakes, candies, cake pops, custom cakes, and macarons, nothing says “delicious treats for your next special occasion” than Sweetopia’s eye-popping 3D LED sign.

Factory House

#5. Factory House

Where: 5240 Tecumseh Rd E

Factory House is a real gem of a restaurant. Everything is fresh, local, made out of scratch, and even their meat is hand cut inhouse and never frozen. But what really makes them stand out in this city, is not just their delicious food, but their one of a kind sign. With 3D LED lettering, hand painted foam gears, and a real chain, the team at Factory House went out of their way to step out of the box, and we couldn’t be prouder to be apart in making it a reality.
